We may be your hometown Kilt location, but we've got all the charm of a quaint little pub in Scotland and all the energy of a raucous party in Illinois. Whatever you want your Tilted Kilt experience to be, there are a few things you can always count on: ice cold beer and plenty of it, a mouthwatering menu full of the pub fare you love, a festive atmosphere full of fun and friends, and, last but not least…beautiful women eager to put a smile on your face and make you feel right at home.
The Tilted Kilt concept originated in 2003, not in Ireland, not in Scotland, not even in England. Believe it or not, the Tilted Kilt actually came to life in America’s own city of sin, Las Vegas. The idea for a modern American, Irish, Scottish and English sports pub was the brainchild of successful restaurateur Mark DiMartino. His vision saw a contemporary, Celtic-themed sports pub staffed with beautiful servers. And guess what the uniforms would be...knee-high socks and short, sexy plaid kilts with matching plaid bra’s under white camp shirts tantalizingly tied to show off the midriff.
DiMartino immediately assembled a stellar restaurant management team consisting of Shannon Reilly, a free spirit and conspiracy theorist and John Reynaud, the original One Shot Johnny—a golf pro who hadn’t made a dime on the mini-tour in such a long time he’d forgotten where his bank was. With team and funding in place, the Tilted Kilt was a go!
The team and the concept enjoyed great success in Las Vegas. And, one of the great things about a Vegas location is the national and global exposure it garnered. Although the Tilted Kilt was not originally intended to be a franchise, it wasn’t long before the concept’s popularity caught the eye of Ron Lynch, an experienced restaurant and franchise developer.
Not only was Ron Lynch a smart and seasoned businessman, he was a figure the team could truly look up to. However, it wasn’t because of his vast restaurant, franchise, and development experience, but because he was so damn tall (6’6”).
After several months of double-dealing, cheap shots, low blows and self-serving positioning, both parties agreed that Tilted Kilt had broad, far-reaching appeal with a great chance to flourish in multiple regions. Thus, the franchise plan was hatched. The first step was to move the Tilted Kilt headquarters to Tempe, Arizona where it is still based today.
Now, with dozens of locations in operation and many more scheduled to open across the country, Tilted Kilt is proving that “A Cold Beer Never Looked So Good.”

Operated by Owner and General Manager Derek Hanley, Peggy Kinnane’s, has become an absolute cornerstone in the revitalization of the downtown area in northwest suburban Arlington Heights. What makes Peggy’s so unique is the fact that virtually every piece of the structure came directly from Ireland. The interior consists mainly of original Irish stone from County Clare. All of the woodwork, including the bars themselves, were constructed and shipped directly from Ireland.
Like many other fine Irish pubs, the walls of Peggy Kinnane’s Irish Restaurant and Pub are adorned with genuine bric-a-brac. However, Hanley didn’t gather his items from a discount shopping trip to the mother country. These genuine articles trace the roots of this friendly location to Hanley’s youth where he spent hours in his grandfather’s pub in County Clare. His grandfather, John Joe Kinnane, was one of Ireland’s most accomplished athletes before opening the doors to Setright’s Pub. Derek’s father, the leader of the Jack Hanley Band preformed in countless establishments throughout Ireland, including his own place, Jack Hanley’s Pub in Templemore, County Tipperary. To add the final touch of authenticity, as you might have guessed by now, Derek Hanley’s mother is an Irish woman by the name of Peggy Kinnane.
The American pub that bears her name is much more than a corner bar. The spectacular layout features several bars, dining areas and even private party rooms. Warm weather allows for tables outside around the beautiful perimeter. Children are welcome and free parking is available on the street and in a municipal garage just down the block. A professional staff, an inviting menu and an atmosphere that feels like Ireland all combine to make a visit to Peggy Kinnane’s Irish Restaurant and Pub an authentic and charming experience.
So for those of you who can’t make it to Brazen Head, or those wondering why the bartender at the neighborhood “Irish” bar is named Antonio or Hans, there are plenty of true Irish pubs in the area. Look for Irish food on the menu, Irish people serving and being served, and plenty of warm, friendly conversation with a few songs thrown in as the night goes on, and more than likely, you’ve found an authentic Irish pub, right here in Chicagoland.
We are pleased to offer private parties for all occasions -- from weddings to corporate events.

A History
Durty Nellie's has been a friendly, neighborhood tavern since 1972. Mark Dolezal took it over in 1988 and gave the establishment its current identity as a noted suburban music room featuring local and national acts, an Irish pub with an extensive list of beers on tap, an outdoor beer garden and a great place for special events, such as the famous Spring and Fall beer festivals, not to mention the week-long St. Patrick's Day events.
Palatine's Durty Nellie's at the 55 N. Bothwell location was modeled after a real Irish pub named Durty Nellie's that was built in 1620 and still stands today. The original Nellie's is near Bunratty Castle in County Clare. Legend has it that the pub was named after a feisty Irish woman who tended bar there in the 1600s. She had a way of getting back at nasty folks who drank there. When they weren't looking, she'd grab a dead mouse by the tail, dunk it a few times into their beer mugs and serve it to them. Once the victims figured out what she was doing, they called her "Durty Nellie" and the name has stuck for four centuries.
A group of airline pilots, who were frequent fliers to Ireland, originally founded this popular suburban spot in 1972 and modeled it after the pub from the 1600s, naming it Durty Nellie's. Prior to the Dolezals taking over Nellie's in the late '80s, the bar changed owners a few times. Since the '70s, the room was known for live music and in the '80s it became a comedy room for a few years. The building was erected at 53-55 N. Bothwell in 1901. Ira Frye, who owned livery stables nearby, moved his business to the Bothwell building, which was a prime location next to the railroad tracks. The Frye & Putnam Livery Stable was the first business to be housed there. In the 1920s, the building was also used as a barbershop. Charles Dinse purchased the building in 1924 and added a brick façade to the front side of structure. He turned it into the multi-purpose Dinse's Bowling and Recreation Parlor, which included a barbershop, bowling alley, ice cream parlor and lunch counter. Dinse's establishment thrived through the 1940s. In 1945, he sold the enterprise to Ed Brockman who renamed it the Palatine Recreation Center.Brockman sold the business to Jack Wilcox in 1947, who added a cocktail lounge, and got rid of the ice cream parlor and barbershop. Jack's Lounge consisted of a tavern, restaurant and bowling alley with the Wilcox family residing on the second floor. Wilcox also owned a shoe store across the street. In the mid-'50s, Wilcox closed the bowling alley and restaurant, due to lack of help, and ran Jack's Lounge as a tavern and packaged liquor store.
The new Durty Nellie's at 180 N. Smith Street opened its doors on December 19, 2003.
Come and enjoy all that the New Nellie's has to offer:

Gulliver's is ideal for a date or a gathering of friends with its delicious menu and relaxed atmosphere.
Located in Chicago, Glenview, and Oak Brook Terrace, Gulliver's stuffed pizza gives new meaning to a Chicago favorite. We think the thin crust would fare well even among New Yorkers. For under $20, Gulliver's serves one of Chicago's finest stuffed pizzas with homemade sauce. Other noteworthy dishes include half-pound "Gulliburgers." For health-conscious eaters, Gulliver's also has a large selection of salads.
Gulliver's is filled with antiques and an amazing display of lamps and paintings that create a unique experience.
Gulliver's was established in 1965 as a 100-seat restaurant featuring the North Side's original pan pizza. Over the years we have grown our first Chicago location and it now seats 350 people. We grew by adding separate dining rooms to keep the setting's cozy feel. Once we ran out of room there, we decided to add restaurant locations. Thanks to customers like you, we have been able to open up restaurants in Oak Brook Terrace and Glenview bringing our world-famous pizza to thousands more.
We offer a wide variety of tasty homemade dishes for your dining pleasure as well as delivery, carry-out and catering services. Our signature menu item has been our award winning pan pizza. Our pizzas are made with the same recipe we have been using since 1965 and are baked in a brick oven to produce the perfect crust. We insist on using only fresh, high quality ingredients to ensure a consistently delicious experience.
Welcome to the Gulliver's Family. We hope you enjoy your Gulliver's experience and look forward to seeing you often.

Casual dining in a rustic atmosphere has made The Country House restaurants a West suburban favorite for more than 30 years. The Clarendon Hills Country House is a great spot for a quick business lunch, a relaxed dinner, or just to have a cocktail with your neighbor. We are best known for our highly touted "Country Burger" a hearty half pound served on dark rye. It was recently voted "Chicago's Favorite Burger" by the readers of The Chicago Tribune.
In addition our menu also features hickory smoked ribs, char-broiled steaks, fresh salads, pastas, and daily specials - all in a friendly neighborhood setting. There is also a full service bar where you can enjoy your favorite beer, a martini, or a glass of wine by the fireplace. We are open 7 days a week for lunch, dinner, or a late night meal. Please stop in and enjoy Clarendon Hills "pleasant surprise in casual dining".
The Ghost Story
The story of The Country House Ghost dates back to 1974. Shortly after an extensive renovation of the entire building, David Regnery was meeting with a contractor to discuss future work. While sitting in the dimly lit bar both men were startled when six independently operated shutters opened simultaneously sending bright shafts of light across the room. Both accused the other of some sort of practical joke. Realizing that there was no joke the meeting was adjourned.
Richard Crowe, Chicago's famous ghosthunter, was asked to come in for a consultation. He brought in two self-professed mediums who claimed to "feel" the presence of a young woman looking for something or someone she had lost. They went on to describe the woman as blonde, good looking, in her late twenties, and someone who died in the late fifties of abdominal injuries.
To further investigate, David then contacted the previous owner. He recalled a young woman who showed up one day visibly distraught and asked if she could leave her child there for a short while. She had been dating the bartender at the time. When the bartender refused, she took her child and sped off down 55th Street. About a half mile away she struck a tree in an apparent suicide.
Since the remodeling there have been numerous accounts of unexplained events. These include pounding walls, crying babies that don't exist, pots and pans that move at their own will, strong scents of fresh flowers, and the sound of footsteps in empty rooms. There have only been a handful of actual sightings of the ghost but each description has matched exactly that of the young woman described by the previous owner and the psychics. She has been seen beckoning customers from an upstairs window, playing the jukebox in the middle of the night, blocking the door of the women's room, or just walking through the dining room.
She has been the subject of many newspaper articles, TV specials, and radio broadcasts but never seems to appear when sought out.

Welcome to Mrs. P And Me, where the past greets the present in an atmosphere of nostalgia and the aroma of good food. The tradition began in 1902, when Henry Behrens opened a bar and restaurant on this location and where early twentieth century patrons enjoyed the local hospitality. The saloon thrived until the early 1920’s when Prohibition changed the bill of fare to candy, cigars, and ice cream. The repeal of Prohibition brought major changes as the Kruse family took over and remodeled the restaurant. Kruse’s Tavern thrived serving as a gathering place for local sports enthusiasts, dairy farmers, and North Western Railway travelers from the 1930’s through the 1960’s.
Dennis Miller took over in 1977 and renamed the restaurant to Mrs. P And Me; the “P” standing for his hometown of Pittsburgh. Much remains of the old days, including the original bar and an array of Mount Prospect memorabilia. With their acquisition in 2004, three Mount Prospect residents fulfilled their dream and acquired Mrs. P And Me, pledging to carry on the century old traditions throughout the 21st century. |

Once upon a time, a Sports Bar & Grill named Heroes & Legends was born on Jefferson Street. After a while, too many
customers started coming into Heroes & Legends, so the little Sports Bar moved to a bigger building farther west on
Jefferson Street. Everything was going just right.
But fate had other plans for the not-so-little-anymore Sports Bar on Jefferson Street. The bigger building was taken
away from Heroes & Legends and smashed into tiny pieces. However, the Sports Bar & Grill continued to exist in the
memory of those who had been there, and made friends there.
The folks who worked there, and laughed there, and made their living there, did not give up hope. They worked hard
and fought many battles to bring Heroes back to life. It is now known as Heroes West, and today you are able to see
the fruit of our labor of those who believed that a good thing should not disappear.
Thanks,
Heroes West |

Bill Roscoe established Gatsby’s Pizza & Pub in 1973. He purchased interior pieces on 55th & Halsted in Chicago and brought that old town look to Arlington Heights. It has been a neighborhood “cheers” bar ever since.
In 1991 the current owners George Callas and John Katsiambis bought Gatsby's. They gave it a fresh remodel all while keeping the classic look and feel of the place. George and John have done many face-lifts to the interior and exterior of the building over the years to evolve with the changing community.
The community has had many changes over the years with the growth of population and businesses. Original customers have become adults and their children are now customers. Gatsby's has found its own unique way of incorporating the new with the old, including the addition of 80 plasma TV's for everyone’s viewing pleasure. One thing remains the same: it still has that wonderful nostalgic look and feel dating back to almost 40 years ago. |

“Just meet me at Manhattan’s!”
When owner Sindy Rogers opened Manhattan’s American Bar and Grill in 1999, she had one goal in mind: a place where friends could meet to have a good time, relax, have a drink or two and enjoy home-style American food, like mom used to make. Sindy credits her own mom as her inspiration. “She was a great cook!”
Her chefs of 11 years, Efram and Eric, have captured the essence of comfort food and have perfected it. Clients come, week after week, to enjoy classics such as fried chicken, pot roast, meatloaf, and fish fry. Sandwiches are also a specialty at Manhattan’s, including reuben, steak, and their famous #1 “Flaming Burger” a 8 oz. Angus beef steak burger topped with saganaki cheese and flamed table-side. The portions are generous and everyone leaves satisfied.
Sindy has been a business owner since age 21, when she and her brother opened “Sindy’s Cellar” a neighborhood pub in Carol Stream, which she still owns. As a true entrepreneur, Sindy has operated more than one business at a time, including her own real estate company. For the last 11 years, her passion has been to run Manhattan’s. “I look forward to coming in every single day. I love my customers. They are like family to me and I want them to feel special,” she says.
Recently Manhattan’s went through major remodeling, expanding the bar and creating a Special Occasion/Banquet area, which can be reserved for rehearsal dinners, weddings, birthday parties, showers, private parties and business meetings and more, for parties of up to 110 people.
On Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, there’s live music at Manhattan’s featuring bands from the 60s to the 90s. There’s also a dance floor which never stays empty.
Sindy and her managers Steve and Carol invite you to come over! You’ll be back. |
